Winston Churchill once said: “Never, never, never give up,” which possibly explains how former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee got the motivation for keeping his Twitter account going. And now that Huckabee has spent his day after Christmas seeing the Churchill biopic Darkest Hour, he’s hopped on Twitter to spew the latest in a long line of nonsensical “jokes” on his favorite platform.

In short, after an afternoon of reveling in the heroism and strong leadership of the cigar-chomping World War 1 vet, he compared President Donald Trump to Churchill, who lifted Britain from its most challenging years as the Axis powers threatened to take over the world.

Ducks took day off today but if you can get to a theater go see The Darkest Hour about Churchill. Reminds as to what real leadership looks like.

Churchill was hated by his own party, opposition party, and press. Feared by King as reckless, and despised for his bluntness. But unlike Neville Chamberlain, he didn't retreat. We had a Chamberlain for 8 yrs; in @realDonaldTrump we have a Churchill.

It’s obvious he’s referencing former President Barack Obama as Nevill Chamberlain (who essentially looked the other way when part of Czechoslovakia was taken by Germany ahead of WWII proper), despite the fact that Trump is inheriting a good economy when Obama spent a good chunk of his time dealing with one of the worst recessions in American history.

Additionally, Winston Churchill became a Lieutenant-Colonel in the British army and volunteered to be placed where the action was. Donald Trump had bone spurs during the Vietnam war and mocked POW vets like Senator John McCain before going head to head with multiple Gold Star families over the last few years.

It’s turned Huckabee’s nice afternoon movie into an evening history lesson.

While in the British Army (where he actively sought to serve in war zones), Churchill gave skin from his own chest to help graft an injured officer's wound.

Mike Huckabee comparing Trump to Churchill is spot-on because everyone knows that Churchill endorsed a pedophile, bragged about sexually assaulting women, said Nazis were very fine people, and rejected the invite to the NAACP convention to go golfing instead.

Winston Churchill once stated: Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen. Who knows if Huckabee will consider that point. Anyway, Churchill also said: “The best argument against democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter.”
